One thing about FFA Advising, is that there is no end to the minor annoyances in FFA set ups. My current gripe: A teams and B teams and C teams. My B team scored way above the A team, and in fact would have placed in the top five if they were marked as the A team. Complete surprise, considering it was the students who had not previously attended practice.
I love Dairy Cattle, though, and I think the kids really enjoyed it! I love seeing the other advisors and I love offering these opportunities to our students. But at my core, I am an obnoxious person.
My feelings are that if we allow unlimited numbers of kids to attend, and unlimited amounts of teams, we should allow our B, C, D, T, W, X teams to rank, too. We already had to score them and they count for individuals, so why not? I am not in favor of just pulling your top three scores after the contest because that’s a LOT of work, but I think since we designate multiple teams right now it would be nice to have those secondary teams rank, too. Otherwise we should just have A team and everyone else is just an individual.
Dairy Cattle is just so fun, I am really glad we went. Taking students to CDE is one of my favorite things as an advisor and I just love a cute baby calf. I think the students did, too, so I consider it a success!
