Every year, it seems like CDE prep is constant. There’s always a new one, there are always new kids to convince to join the team, and there’s always new information to teach the students before you hop on the bus and go do your best.

This year I decided to try something different. I spent the summer working on a set up for CDE Binders. These work for guided CDE practice as well as something to give to students to take home and work on by themselves. So far, it seems to be working. Our first contest is tomorrow so I will update afterwards.

I included: dry erase marker, post-its, pencils, mini calculator, pouches, and loose-leaf paper. The idea is that the worksheets for judging go in the pouches and are written on with the dry erase marker so I don’t need to print out new judging cards every single practice.

Our first CDE is Dairy Cattle Evaluation. I put in basic information about cattle, the contest, and then some resources from the Dairy Handbooks.

Fingers crossed the CDE goes well!
